This photo was sent in by researcher Kevin Faulkner of Arkansas. he writes:
These were taken in the small town of Washington, Arkansas. the town now has a population of less than 100, but in the 1860s it was the second largest town in Arkansas. In 1863 after Little Rock fell to the Union army the Capital of Arkansas was moved to this town. Many of the original structures still stand there, this cemetery where these photographs were taken dates back to 1818. There are about 40 marked sites and many more unmarked graves. These pics were taken about 7 PM, the dense tree cover around the cemetery makes it dark most of the day. On this trip me and my wife both felt like we were being choked in a certain spot of the cemetery and later I heard a male voice ask "What are you doing?" it sounded like it was about 5 foot behind me when I turned there was nothing there.
Nice job, Kevin! |
